My life is a part time blessing. Every other day I get to do exactly what I want.

This week I am teaching high school Spanish Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. It is a blast. I love the classroom experience. My students make me laugh; they challenge me; and they expand my heart. I am doing exactly what I was made to do.

Tuesday and Thursday of this week I am working for the church we are planting, blogging, taking care of the house, getting my kids to school, and waiting for my kids when they get off the bus. I love the work at home experience. I am doing exactly what I was made to do.

I cannot begin to express how truly blessed I am in this season.

Life is a part time blessing.

Some days it is easy to see the blessing. Things go exactly how we want…. part of the time. The other part of the time we are being blessed in a different way. There are seasons of new life, fulfilling work, and peace within the home. There are also seasons of trial. Yet, in every season, there is blessing.

There is blessing in the ability to cry with a friend, fight with a spouse, and be frustrated with your children. There is blessing in waiting for an ultra sound to indicate another child has been lost; there is blessing in the graveyard spattered with names I love; and there is blessing in the moments of failure. These are blessings I have known in seasons very different from today. They are the blessings that have convinced me life is full of beauty.

Remember, you are in a part time season of blessing.

I am a woman in my mid thirties figuring out how to balance an intense need for perfection with the reality of my own imperfections. The answer I am finding is grace.....and plenty of it.
As a mother of three, a teacher, a church planter, and a runner, I have many opportunities to practice giving myself and others the grace I need to survive.
