John 19: What I Have Written
God is not concerned with whether or not we have the right lineage or education. He wants us all to experience the truth of who he is.
God is not concerned with whether or not we have the right lineage or education. He wants us all to experience the truth of who he is.
This chapter tells me that when I struggle with doubt, I’m normal. Even Jesus’ brothers didn’t believe. We see the crowds debating and reasoning about whether or not Jesus was who he said he was. I’d say that it makes sense then for people to still struggle with who Jesus is 2,000 years later!
God isn’t asking me to be perfect in order to receive salvation and relationship with him.
The text says that the only work required of us is to believe.
I called him Big John, somewhat because his son is Big Tom, but mostly because he was a big man.
No matter how much he had already given, he seemed to find a way to give more of himself. He was our giant.
I know the truth. Where God gives vision, he gives provision. I know that I know that I know… and, still, I sit here unable to sleep.
We were created to believe, and we are constantly searching for something worth our faith and trust.
Perhaps we are in search of a Christmas miracle to undo the damages of life.
This Christmas, I hope you will receive the gift of understanding your own worth in the eyes of another. You are a glass treasure.
