Dear Church, Sunday was awesome! We had 76 people at the morning service and 20 at the discussion dinner. I am so excited about what God is doing. Recently there have been answered prayers, new connections, and moments of great encouragement. Don’t think I am the eternal optimist though. New churches are full of highs… Read More Dear Church
You guys are probably like, “Great, here she is again to talk about how reality and expectations haven’t lined up, how she is worn out, or something like that.”
Nope. Curveball. I’m breaking punctuation rules this time to share a WIN.
That’s right, even the disillusioned planter has a win from time to time. What do you think keeps me in it? It’s not my sheer willpower and awesomeness (sorry to disappoint if you thought it was).… Read More Curveball
I. am. so. tired.
In fact, I’m so tired that I just used my least favorite punctuation rule breaker. I hate when people put a period after each word. “I.” is not a sentence. I know we are being dramatic in our period usage, but it drives me insane. I hope this mini grammar rant helps you to fully grasp just how. tired. I. am.… Read More I. Am. So. Tired.
I am weirdly at peace with my tiny church in a world that only celebrates the skinny jeaned booming success stories.… Read More The Disillusioned Church Planter
I am devastated. Okay, that might be a touch melodramatic, but I am seriously bummed. I applied for a job I really wanted, and I found out after work yesterday that I didn’t make it past the first round interview. Now I’m sitting here wondering what to do with myself. Do I lick my wounds,… Read More Desert (and Dessert) Seasons
Right this minute, the first snow of the season is falling. Everything feels right as the dryer is whirring and the light flakes dusting the roads are shutting my commitments for the day down (I was supposed to coach my daughter’s youth basketball team this morning…because I needed something else to do…lol). Although I’ve been… Read More STILL DREAMING
I went to a breakfast for the church planters in our network. I walked in with my husband to see a table full of men. I was the only woman. Am I the only planting woman integrally involved in the development of a church in our network? No, but somehow I was the only one… Read More At the Men’s Table
I like action and results. I can’t stand when I see things being done wrong, and I am almost always convinced I could do it better, unless of course that thing is parking a car or building something.
This is a problem because I end up trying to do way more than I should. Even my blog is a reflection of this. I write about teaching, church planting, parenting, and running. I can’t even stay focused on one topic for the blog!
My tagline is grace and imperfection because I need a lot of grace for all the areas of imperfection.
So, here is my latest confession of an area in which I need to give and receive grace.… Read More OUT OF FOCUS
My nine year old daughter is playing recreational league soccer for the Blue Bandits this Spring. It brings Jonathan great joy to antagonize our children. A recent family conversation in the car went as follows. Jon: I am going to yell, “Go Band-aids!” No one will know because they will think I am saying Bandits. Go… Read More VERY SERIOUS?
