Christ followers experience difficult seasons in life when feelings of isolation and abandonment can loom large. The temptation to doubt or give up comes in the tough times. Knowing Jesus’ sure promise to be with us and keep us on the way to the Father’s house helps his followers navigate the dark seasons. He will never leave us. “I am with you always.” Jesus, Matt. 28:20.
This chapter tells me that when I struggle with doubt, I’m normal. Even Jesus’ brothers didn’t believe. We see the crowds debating and reasoning about whether or not Jesus was who he said he was. I’d say that it makes sense then for people to still struggle with who Jesus is 2,000 years later!

Every day is a battle. Every day I fight to keep the mess inside and be better. Every day I fight the lies of who I feel myself to be with a grasping at who I am made to be.
With age comes wisdom, and I am learning to let some things go (apparently, being cool is one of them). I am learning not to strain so hard to see everything down the road.
I like showing myself that my feelings are not always a reflection of reality. I like proving to my emotions what logic already tells me. I also love that my kids see me do something I am terrified of and walk away just fine when it is over.
